•November, 2012: NanoH2O selected as a “Top 50 Water Tech” company
(see Membrane Technology, Volume 2012, Issue 11, November 2012, Pages 6-7)
•May, 2011: Marambio-Jones & Hoek Journal of Nanoparticle research article was one of the top 10 most cited papers in the area of nanoparticle/polymer-enhanced water filtration in the past year on BioMedLib.com.
•May, 2011: Prof. Hoek wins the 2011 Walter L. Huber Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers recognizing his “notable achievements in research related to civil engineering” for inventing nanocomposite RO membrane technology.
•April, 2011: MaryTheresa Pendergast wins the 2010 UCLA Civil & Environmental Engineering Outstanding Masters Thesis award.
•April, 2011: UCLA Institute of Environment and Sustainability features Prof. Hoek’s comments on his experience in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill response and its aftermath.
•December, 2010: UCLA Engineer magazine reports on Prof. Hoek’s involvement with the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
•September, 2010: UCLA Today reports on Prof. Hoek’s involvement with the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
•June, 2010: UCLA Chancellor Gene Block notes on his Facebook page that Prof. Hoek’s is one of several UCLA people who are contributing aid or expertise to the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
•May, 2010: Prof. Hoek is currently serving as a consultant to Ocean Therapy Solutions LLC, the company that has developed a centrifuge-based treatment system that is now being used by British Petroleum to help clean up the oil from the Gulf of Mexico.
•September, 2009: Prof. Hoek gives invited lecture to the School of Sustainabiltiy and the Built Environment at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona
•August, 2009: Prof. Hoek gives invited lecture in the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Departments at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa
•May, 2009: Prof. Hoek gives invited lecture in the Chemical Engineering Department at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California
•Former NanoMeTeR Lab graduate student, Dr. Arun Subramani, now of MWH Global’s Advanced Technology Group gives seminar at UCLA on “Application of Membrane Technology for Produced Water Treatment”
